San Francisco/ San Jose Chapter - San Francisco Winter Social
Wednesday, November 15


Kick off the holiday season in a #CalPolyProud way, come meet up with us after work at Natoma Cabana in SOMA San Francisco! Now that winter is coming, we will be hosting a coat drive, please bring something to contribute! Bring your friends, spread the work and get ready for a fun evening with your fellow Mustangs!

Note: A few rounds of appetizers will be provided and we will be hosting a silent auction with proceeds benefiting the chapter's student scholarship fund. 

This is a 21+ event. Montgomery Bart Station is a 5 minute walk to the venue. There are also several parking garages in the area for those driving.

Los Angeles Chapter - Speaker Series Part 2

Come join us for Speaker Series Part 2 of 2017! We will have a panel of 3 amazing speakers (including 2 Alumni in Los Angeles and the Dean of the College of Business).

Hear about their amazing successes, and take an opportunity to network with fellow alumni in Los Angeles. The Dean will also give us the exciting updates on campus! We will have wine served from our own LA Based and Cal Poly Alumni owned winery Rebel Coast! Meats and Cheeses will be served as well.



San Diego Chapter - Shop for a Cause at Kendra Scott

Join us for a special event at Kendra Scott at Fashion Valley on Thursday, November 16th from 6:00 - 9:00 pm. Kendra Scott will give back 20% on all purchases to contribute to our Cal Poly San Diego Scholarship Fund. 

Help the Cal Poly San Diego Alumni Chapter raise money toward our Cal Poly San Diego scholarship. Shop Kendra Scott's collection of designer jewlery just in time for the holidays, while sipping on champagne and appetizers. Your $5 ticket supports our scholarship fund and enters you into a drawing for a beautiful piece of Kendra Scott jewelry.

Orange County Chapter - Cookie Decorating with Bubbly Brunch
Saturday, November 18


Come master your cookie decorating skills with Cal Poly Alumni before the holiday season is underway! Join us for a 3-hour decorating class with Tyler Saber, founder of locally owned Paper Street Cake, as she shares her tips and tricks while you sip on champagne. Following the class you'll be treated to a fabulous bottomless mimosa brunch at Oak Grill. Not into cookies - you're welcome to join in on just the brunch from 11:30am-1pm!

You'll learn about: How to make the perfect shortbread cookie (recipe included). Keep your dough from spreading. Make royal icing in different consistencies (recipe included). Prepare piping bags/bottles. Importance of different consistencies for various techniques. How to outline cookies. Using different shapes and sizes of decorating tips. How to flood cookies using pastry bags and bottles.

It's everything you need to know to wow your friends and family this holiday season. Space is limited to 20 so sign up quickly!

Valet parking is complimentary at Island Hotel.

Sacramento Chapter - Wine Tasting at the Old Sugar Mill
Saturday, November 18


It's Cal Poly day at the Old Sugar Mill in Clarksburg! Stop by the Cal Poly check-in table on your way in and then mingle with Sacramento-area alumni as you taste your way through a variety of wines from local wineries. 

Tickets are $10. Join the alumni out back for a small picnic, the Chapter will be providing snacks to go with your wine<span ms-bg-color-themelighter"="" role="button">! Tasting fees are separate and vary per winery. If you've never been to the Old Sugar Mill, or you're already a fan- this is a great chance to try something new while meeting new people! 

The chapter will be providing snacks but feel free to bring a lunch.

San Francisco San Jose Chapter - Cal Poly vs. Santa Clara University Basketball Game
Saturday, November 18

Come help root on our basketball team at Santa Clara University! Santa Clara has given us the opportunity to purchase discounted tickets through their website by using promo code mustangs17

We will be meeting before the game to boost our group spirit at the North side entrance to the Center at 6:15 pm. Tickets are being sold for $13 per ticket plus fees for sections 108-111.

If you would like too get tickets for a different section please contact Jesse Moreno with Santa Clara University at JPMORENO@SCO.EDU. Information for parking and direction to the Leavey Center can be found here. Parking should be free on the weekend.

Cal Poly Career Services - Student + Alumni Mixer

Please join us for an informal networking event with current students on Wednesday, Nov. 29 starting at 5:30 p.m. at the SLO HotHouse in downtown San Luis Obispo. 

This is your chance to meet students from all majors who want to learn from your expertise, get career advice and connect about possible internships and job opportunities. 

If you haven't visited the SLO HotHouse yet, this is a great opportunity to check out this community space, created through the efforts of Cal Poly, the city and county of San Luis Obispo, and the Cal Poly Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) in an effort to encourage a passionate startup culture in San Luis Obispo. 



Washington DC Chapter - December Happy Hour

It finally feels like winter! Let's escape the cold and meet at Lost & Found December 7th for happy hour. Lost & Found is located on 1240 9th Street NW and is easily accessible from the Mount Vernon metro stop (yellow/green line) along with multiple bus lines (Metro Center is a brisk walk if the red/orange/blue/silver are closer to you). We look forward to seeing you there! Bring your friends!

One of the best parts about Cal Poly is the people. And good people keep good friends, so we want to meet yours. Our monthly happy hour is the perfect meeting place for everyone to network and socialize. Make it your go-to happy hour and get social with Cal Poly. Are you new to the Cal Poly Alumni - DC Chapter? Monthly happy hours are always on the first Thursday of the month. We rotate locations throughout the year and try to make things easily accessible. It is a great way to unwind from the week, network and meet other alumni in the DC area!



Orange County Chapter - Holiday Beer Tasting

Show Off that Ugly Sweater at our Annual Holiday Beer Tasting!

The holidays are here! What better way to kick off the season than beer tasting with fellow Mustangs in Orange County? Join us at Gunwhale Ales in Costa Mesa to sample their award-winning beer. We've rented out the patio for the evening. 

Each ticket purchased will include six tickets that can be used for tastings, half glasses and pints! Purchase your ticket before December 1 to be entered into a drawing for Cal Poly merchandise.

If you're feeling festive, we encourage you to wear that ugly holiday sweater you've been waiting all year to show off.

Fresno Chapter - Wine Tales

This annual event brings generations of alumni together for an evening of storytelling and campus updates. This is an opportunity to hear first-hand about the way Cal Poly has evolved over the years and the exciting things on the horizon.

Varsity Club Chapter - Cactus Mixer

The Cal Poly Alumni - Varsity Club is hosting its 2nd Annual Cactus Mixer at Spring Training in Arizona. The event will be held at The Thirsty Lion in Tempe AZ starting at 6 pm MST.

Your ticket includes heavy appetizers, one drink ticket, and the opportunity to meet Cal Poly Baseball Alumni playing and coaching in Major League Baseball. All Cal Poly Alumni and their families are welcome. Cal Poly Baseball Alumni have a strong presence year after year at Spring Training and we can't wait for you to join in on the fun!

 



Environmental Engineering Chapter - 50th Reunion

SAVE THE DATE! You are invited to join Cal Poly's Civil & Environmental Engineering Department to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Environmental Engineering Program and all it's glory!

The celebration will be a weekend you will never forget as it will take place in the beautiful City of San Luis Obispo where you once called home. There will be plenty to do with events like outdoor activities, networking socials, and a special tour of Cal Poly's engineering facilities and ENVE labs.

The celebration will close with a banquet filled with memories and laughs from ENVE alumni, staff, and faculty, including retirees. You as an alum are a big part of our department's history and you have helped make the program one of the most respected in the country.

Join us as we celebrate Cal Poly's Environmental Engineering legacy while we catch up with old friends and make some new ones too!
